By Mark StebelenSeattle, Washington, February 24, 2018 — It’s no secret that people are getting increasingly isolated from God and other spiritual leaders.
And that can be a big deal for people who are struggling with mental illness.
But a new book, Spirituality for the Mind, by John M. MacLean, MD, a psychotherapist and the author of The Healing Mind: How to Heal Yourself and Others, may be helping people realize they have an amazing and powerful connection to their spirituality.
The book was published by Columbia University Press on Wednesday.
Maclean has published over a dozen books on topics from spirituality and meditation to mindfulness and mindfulness meditation, among others.
“I don’t think that people know how strong a connection to the supernatural they have,” he told National Geographic News.
“I think it’s a very strong thing.
And it’s probably one of the most powerful things you can do for yourself, and that’s what the book is all about.”
The book is the latest addition to a growing body of research on the relationship between spirituality and mental health.
In 2015, a large survey by the National Spiritual Health Survey found that over 80 percent of people in the U.S. said they felt spiritual or spiritual related to their health.
It also found that spirituality and spirituality related to mental health were linked in a large percentage of people who were surveyed.
“What’s interesting to me about spirituality is it’s very much like a religion.
It’s a way of being, it’s something that we’ve always believed, and it’s important that we talk about that,” MacLean said.”
And I think the problem with talking about spirituality in general is that it’s often very dismissive of spirituality in a way that doesn’t help people.
You don’t give them a chance to understand what spirituality is.
You have to try to make them feel that they’re not alone.”
Spiritual communities, MacLean says, can help people understand how they can feel connected to God, even if they don’t have a lot of faith in it.
“We’re in a situation now where there’s so much evidence of spiritual communities that can really help us to feel better about our condition and to be more compassionate,” Maclean said.
“We can learn how to live more spiritually and that we can help ourselves and others.”
MacLean’s book, like many others on the subject, is intended for people of any age and to anyone who wants to know more about the relationship they have with God.
He says there are plenty of spiritual programs and groups available, and offers some practical advice on how to get started.
“It’s a good place to start for people to know that there are so many options out there that are not necessarily going to be easy or safe or safe to begin with, but that there is a place where they can go and start,” he said.
